“The Caribbean: Embracing the Diasporas Within and Without”

May 26-30th, 2008 - San Andres Island, Colombia

This year’s conference will take place in Colombia. Our aim is to advance the dialogue among and between scholars and practitioners in efforts to chart a course for the practical engagement of academic researchers with the problems facing the Caribbean region.

By hosting the conference in Colombia, we seek to challenge the popular understandings of the Caribbean by emphasizing the cultural, historical, and social spaces rather than the national and territorial in its conceptualization.
